Kalama School District is pleased to announce that Terra Pfeiffer has been promoted to the position of interim Assistant Principal of Kalama Middle School (KMS) and Kalama High School (KHS).
Pfeiffer spent the 2022-2023 school year serving as the Dean of Students for both schools, having joined the district the previous summer with experience as both a school counselor and teacher.
In her new role, Pfeiffer will help to manage administrative tasks including school safety and staff development, while also providing students with academic support and restorative justice practices.
For the 2023-2024 school year, Pfeiffer will serve as the main administrative point person for Kalama Middle School families and staff, helping to support Jennifer McCallum’s transition from KMS Principal to interim Superintendent of the district.
“We are excited to have Terra fill this role because she already knows the students, staff, families and school,” said McCallum. “She will be able to continue her great work, just in a different role.”
When asked about the promotion, Pfeiffer said her experience in education has prepared her for this opportunity.
“My experience as a dean of students, school counselor and teacher has shaped my understanding of the various needs of our students, the importance of fostering a positive learning environment, and the value of strong relationships within the school community,” she said. “As the interim Assistant Principal, I look forward to continuing my commitment to student growth, supporting teachers in their vital work, and working collaboratively with parents to ensure a thriving educational experience for all.”
With Pfeiffer moving to the role of Assistant Principal, the district is now hiring for an interim Dean of Students for grades 6-12.
The Kalama School Board made Pfeiffer’s promotion official during its noon meeting on Monday, August 14, 2023.
