The Kalama High School Drama program is preparing to bring audiences on a mythic journey to the underworld with its upcoming production of Hadestown: Teen Edition, a modern adaptation of the Greek tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Set in a gritty, industrial version of the underworld inspired by early 20th Century Americana, the play blends myth, music, and message, exploring themes of love, sacrifice, and the human condition.
According to Program Director Michael Ready, the show’s challenges have elevated students to new heights, both musically and theatrically.
"Hadestown has pushed us as a program to be both prepared for the unexpected, and to work towards bigger and greater goals," he said. “It has pushed our actors and instrumentalists in how to be more outright and professional performers. Overall, Hadestown will prove to be both a painstaking theatrical process, and one of our best shows yet!"
The Kalama High School Drama program has a long-standing reputation for delivering impactful and entertaining performances, and Hadestown promises to be no exception. Come out and support these talented young performers as they bring this epic tale to life!
