Kalama High School junior Harrison Suzara was honored at Monday night’s Kalama School Board meeting (March 24) for his recent achievement on the wrestling mat – winning the 1A State Championship in the 120-pound weight class. Suzara secured the title late last month at the Mat Classic in Tacoma, cementing his place among the state’s top high school wrestlers.
Suzara’s victory was the culmination of months of dedication, training, and hard-fought matches throughout the season. Kalama wrestling coach Chase Staup, who knows firsthand what it takes to win at the highest level, spoke to The Daily News about the significance of the moment.
“We’ve visualized this moment for Harrison all season long,” Staup said. “I knew how I felt when I won a state title in high school. I hope Harrison enjoys this moment and embraces it.”
Congratulations, Harrison!
