Kalama School District is pleased to announce the selection of Heidi Bunker as Principal of Kalama High School.
Bunker brings more than 20 years of experience in school administration and teaching to KHS. Most recently, she served as Assistant Principal of Centralia Middle School where she focused on increasing student achievement, ensuring school safety, establishing clear and measurable goals, and managing resources.
“The Kalama Community has a reputation of support and pride for their schools, which is why I am beyond excited to be the new Kalama High School Principal,” said Bunker. “Kalama is a beautiful and unique place to live and work. I look forward to working with the staff to make a positive impact for students.”
Bunker has a pair of Bachelor’s Degrees from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, and a Master’s Degree and Principal Certification from Heritage University in Yakima. She will be Kalama High School’s first female principal.
“I am very excited to welcome Heidi as our next High School Principal,” said Kalama School District Superintendent, Eric Nerison. “Heidi's experience, disposition and community-centered perspective made her a standout candidate. Heidi comes with a passion for teaching and learning and a strong background with small school districts. Please join me in welcoming her to the Chinook family!”
Bunker replaces current KHS Principal, Guy Strot, who accepted a position as Superintendent with Dayton School District in SE Washington. His last day is June 30.
