April 17, 2025 update: China Garden Rd. will be closed from S. 10th Street to Gwynne Road beginning Monday, April 28 through Thursday, May 1 due to road grinding and paving. Detours will be in place.
The City of Kalama will begin work on an improvement project for China Garden Road on Friday, March 28. The road project will impact travel near Kalama schools.
According to city officials, the project includes storm drainage improvements, new guardrails, and repaving from N. 10th Street to Gwynne Road.
Drivers should expect single-lane closures with flaggers during drainage work, followed by a total road closure with detours via Gore Road later in the project.
Work is expected to take about two months, weather permitting.
