Maddie Lougheed with family and school board members and staff

Kalama Middle School student Madelynn “Maddie” Lougheed was recognized as Kalama School District’s Student of the Month during the Kalama School Board meeting on Monday, February 24, 2025.

In nominating Maddie for the recognition, the 8th grader was praised by her teachers for her unwavering willingness to learn and positive mindset.

“Maddie is the type of student and person that I love to see walk through my classroom door,” said one of her teachers. “She brings her all to everything we do in class. She listens intently, thinks about what we are learning, offers ideas… takes feedback and uses it to deepen her understanding.”

“I've had the pleasure of teaching and coaching Maddie,” wrote another teacher. “She is an amazing young lady. She is thoughtful, coachable, and wise beyond her years. Maddie consistently looks out for others and gives 110 percent in everything that she does.”

A third educator noted that Maddie demonstrates inquisitiveness and perseverance in class, adding that she “works successfully with all of her peers, and the classroom is a better place [due to] her participation.”

Congratulations on a well-deserved recognition, Maddie!
