Kalama High School student Sienna DiCristina was recognized as Kalama School District’s Student of the Month during the Kalama School Board meeting on Monday, January 27, 2025.
In nominating Sienna for the recognition, the 10th grader was praised by KHS teacher Ken White for her positive attitude and drive.
“Sienna is a dedicated and exceptional student,” said White during the board meeting. “She engages in multiple clubs, is excellent in her academics, and is a driven citizen. I believe she encapsulates all we are looking for in this honor."
White added that the Kalama High School sophomore is “hard working, kind, and friendly,” taking higher level classes at school to challenge herself.
Congratulations, Sienna!
Kalama Elementary Recognized for Closing Achievement Gaps
In addition to honoring Sienna DiCristina as Student of the Month, the district recognized Kalama Elementary School for closing achievement gaps and demonstrating achievement in specific areas during the 2022-2023 school year.
The recognition is part of the Washington School Recognition Program, a statewide initiative led by the State Board of Education (SBE), the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC), and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Although the SBE honor was originally announced in June, the district recently received official recognition banners from the program, pictured below.
