Kalama School District has kicked off the development of a new strategic plan to help shape the future of education in the community.
The district will collaborate with stakeholders over the coming weeks to develop the plan, which will serve as a roadmap of sorts, outlining a long-term vision, mission, and goals for student success. Once finalized, the plan will be presented to the Kalama School Board in late April for consideration and potential adoption.
“The strategic plan is vital for a school district,” said Kalama School Board President Katie Perkins. “We are super excited to embark on this journey of creating a new [plan] here in Kalama. The more voices we get involved in this process, the more complete our strategic plan will be.”
As the district embarks on this process, it is seeking input from students, families, staff, and community members to help identify and understand the community’s shared values.
Community members are encouraged to share their feedback by completing the district’s Community Insights Survey, linked here. The survey will close on Friday, February 7.
Dr. Wesley Benjamin, superintendent of Kalama School District, emphasized the importance of citizen input in shaping a plan that will inspire progress, foster opportunities, and cultivate future-ready learners.
“This is a pivotal moment for Kalama,” said Benjamin. “We’re not just talking about setting goals. This is about collaborating with our community to create a clear, actionable vision that ensures every student has the opportunities and support they need to thrive.”
