Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in serving as a volunteer in Kalama School District! Whether you're a parent/guardian, neighbor, business or community organization, there are many ways for you to be involved with our schools.

By sharing your time and talents at school, you can positively impact the educational experience of students, provide helpful support to teachers and staff, and strengthen the bond between school and community.

To volunteer at any of our schools, submission and approval of a Volunteer Application is required.

There are two volunteer classifications within our district. You can determine which one applies to you based on the type of activity you would like to participate in.

General Volunteer

  • Classroom help

  • Special events

  • Field trips

  • PTO

Super Volunteer (fingerprints required)

  • Coaching (with approval)

  • Working under a certificated teacher without direct supervision

  • Cispus

  • Van driver

You will be contacted by the school when you have been cleared to volunteer. Please wait until you have received final approval before attempting to volunteer. An approved General Volunteer application lasts for one year. An approved Super Volunteer application lasts for two years.

Please note: Beginning July 1, 2024, fingerprinting costs are paid by the volunteer. Fingerprinting fee is $85 and is required for all Super Volunteers. Please contact ESD 112 to schedule your appointment.

Just visiting?

For school safety, we ask that all visitors first come to the school office to sign in and get a visitor sticker. This check-in procedure allows staff to know who is in the building in case of an emergency. If an adult visitor wishes to observe a classroom, a time should be prearranged with the school principal.

If you have any volunteer-related questions, please contact the school’s main office.
